Financial Assistance Programs

The Financial Assistance Program provides one off financial assistance, to financially disadvantaged clients, to promote quality of life and assist with health related crises where no other funding program
is available.

Funding Sources

Funding for this important program is through several sources:

  • CDSE (in NSW)

  • Branches and Auxiliaries (in NSW and Victoria)

  • Donations including those from Trusts and Foundations and individuals

  • 24 Hour Mega Swim

Types of assistance available

Quality of Life Support for people with MS

Financial assistance is available to assist participation in an activity that promotes quality of life.

Activities may include attending a social event or function with family, complimentary health sessions such as massage, personal development and counselling sessions or access and support
for education.

Quality of Life Support for children of people with MS

Financial support to provide learning and social needs that are frequently unmet for children, particularly those who provide care to a parent living with MS.

Support may be provided for social activities, respite, extracurricular school activities, assistance with school related expenses, etc.

Co-payments for other essential services

Assistance with one off co-payments required in order to access another service.

Deposit for hire of equipment; co payment for home modifications provided through HACC Department
of Housing.

Equipment hire and purchasing of equipment

Financial assistance to hire, purchase or subsidise the purchase of essential equipment that is not available from government funded equipment programs.

This includes items such as air conditioners, wheelchairs, pressure mattresses, patient hoists, scooters and car modifications.

Accommodation Support – at home.

Financial assistance provided for practical supports such as minor home modifications and short term personal assistance or domestic help services provided by community agencies.
